安装32位的应用程序到64位Windows Vista 或 Windows 7中不需要其他的步骤。微软已经在64位系统中嵌入了向下兼容性，以保证那些不兼容64位地址空间和64位指针的应用程序能够正常运行。在64位Windows上的Windows(WOW64)属于封装层，在64位Windows Vista 或 Windows 7中封装和运行32位的系统。需要强调的是，LabVIEW 8.2.1是第一版支持64位Windows Vista的LabVIEW。LabVIEW 2009 是第一版支持64位Windows 7的LabVIEW。
在WOW64中，一个32位的应用程序发送和接收32位的指令，然后这些指令在和操作系统通信之前会被WOW64翻译。用户不需要采取任何措施来使能WOW64封装层，操作系统自动检测32位应用程序，然后用WOW64来使他们运行。
