Issue Details

I have a NI-CAN or NI-XNET device that I'm using, but I'm not sure whether I need an external power supply or not. Is there a list of which devices are internally or externally powered?

Automotive Ethernet Devices:

NI-XNET Automotive Ethernet Devices (PXI-8521, PCI-8521, IVN-8561) do not require any external bus power. 

Additional Information

  • When using XNET transceiver cables with an NI 9860 C series module, the NI 9860 itself must also be powered externally (9-30V), in addition to bus power requirements shown in the table. Details can be found in the NI 9860 Getting Started Guide.
