Configuring Local OPC Servers to Work with OPC Client I/O Servers (DSC Module)

You must verify the DCOM configuration for a local OPC server before you connect an OPC Client I/O server to the OPC server. National Instruments recommends that you configure the OPC server to run with an identity of The interactive user.
Complete the following steps to change and verify the identity setting for the OPC server.
- Log in to Windows as an administrator.
- In the Windows Control Panel, navigate to the Administrative Tools folder.
- Double-click the Component Services shortcut to launch the Component Services utility. You also can launch the Component Services utility by selecting Start»Run, entering dcomcnfg in the command prompt, and clicking the OK button.
- In the Component Services window, select Component Services»Computers»My Computer»DCOM Config from the Console Root tree to display the DCOM configurations on the computer.
- Right-click the OPC server you installed on the computer and select Properties from the shortcut menu to display the Properties dialog box. Contact the OPC server vendor if you cannot find the OPC server in the DCOM Config list.
- On the Identity page, click the The interactive user button.
- Click the OK button to close the Properties dialog box.
You must relaunch or redeploy the OPC server before the change takes effect.
