NI ELVIS Inverted Pendulum

The National Instruments ELVIS/Quanser Rotary Inverted Pendulum contains all the components you need to set up your control design, simulation, and mechatronics lab. The Quanser QNET rotary inverted pendulum offers students the opportunity to balance a vertical rod at the tip of a rotating arm using a DC motor. This classic pendulum control experiment that can now be performed using the NI ELVIS Workstation and LabVIEW software.
DVD Player Test

This demonstration showcases a powerful video test suite for analyzing both analog and digital video signals. Digital video is tested through the HDMI output of the DVD player using Microlex Digital Video analyzer. Digital Audio is tested through the coaxial digital output using NI High Speed Digital Input/Output (NI PXI-6522). Analog video is tested via the video and audio channels output of the DVD player using NI PXI-5142 and PXI-4461 respectively.
GPS Receiver Test

Receivers have varied features and capabilities. For example, some are designed for military users; others for civilians; some receivers are intended for navigation, etc. However, all receivers have a number of common features that requires testing.

Using National Instruments RF platform and the GPS toolkit, we are able to perform GPS receiver test. In this demonstration, GPS signals are simulated with the GPS toolkit and then generated using the NI RF Upconverters.
Functional & In-Circuit Testing using NI Platform

Combining our modular hardware instruments and software, the NI platform is used to accelerate the design process and reuse test code throughout the product development flow. This platform provides tightly synchronized hardware stimulus and response signals to ensure accuracy, and the software to make comparisons and analysis. To demonstrate how to use NI’s platform, this automated test systems shows how our own development engineers used NI’s platform to develop and test our products. Some of the tests include open/short tests of the diodes and relays, resistance and voltage measurements and harmonic distortion analysis.
Solve the Rubik Cube with National Instruments Vision and Lego Mindstorm

In this demonstration, watch how the Rubik Cube puzzle is solved with National Instruments Vision Development Module and LabVIEW toolkit for Lego Mindstorm. Imaging of the faces is done with the USB Webcam, the image is then processed with NI Vision Development Module and instructions sent to the Lego Mindstorm hardware to execute the next moves.
Intelligent DAQ Dance Revolution

This demonstration shows the high-performance and flexibility of R Series Intelligent DAQ hardware and the National Instruments LabVIEW FPGA module, through an arcade style dance simulation game. The game involves showing dance steps on the screen while players are graded based on how well they can keep up with the beat of the song. Using a single PXI-7833R R Series Intelligent DAQ module, we’re able to generate all audio and video output signals, communicate with 2 dance sensor pads and implement scoring and synchronization logic on the FPGA chip.
Using NI CompactDAQ to Crash Test Safety Helmets

NI CompactDAQ is used to acquire data related to what a person's head would be subjected to upon impact. As the helmet is falling, a sensor passes through a velocity gate, and we use the counter/timer function to measure the helmet velocity just prior to impact. This triggers the data acquisition system, which measures the acceleration that the head feels during impact.
Redundancy in an embedded Compact FieldPoint Application

NI Compact FieldPoint can run embedded LabVIEW code developed using the LabVIEW Real-Time Module. A typical application is controlling an industrial process, which often requires a redundant system. A redundant system duplicates the hardware so that if the primary system fails, the secondary system can take over. Also, the secondary system can control the process while the primary system is offline for maintenance, upgrades, or changes. This demonstration showcases how the Compact FieldPoint is able to perform redundancy in these scenarios.
