National Instruments Named Among Electronic Design's 'Top 100 Employers in Electronic Design'

NEWS RELEASE – May 22, 2007 Electronic Design magazine recently released its list of the nation’s top 100 employers in electronic design, ranking Austin-based National Instruments as No. 66. Electronic Design based its “Top 100 Employers in Electronic Design” list on design influence, hiring patterns, rich patent and IP portfolios and substantial R&D budgets. The magazine used public sources to compare companies along with reader surveys on career satisfaction.

“The corporate culture at National Instruments makes the company a top employer in electronic design,” said Mark David, editor-in-chief of Electronic Design. “With the many honors and awards the company has accrued through the years, I cannot think of another company that has apparent higher job satisfaction among employees than National Instruments.”

Electronic Design cites the company’s emphasis on career development, including the Engineering Leadership Program (ELP), in which about half of new NI employees participate, as a key to its success. Through the ELP, engineers work with every department at NI over a two-year development period. During this time they provide tech support for the company’s customers, facilitate customer classes and work on special projects. The goals of the ELP are to help new engineers learn about the company’s products and to help them determine which direction they want to take in their careers.

“We are proud to be among Electronic Design’s Top 100 Employers in Electronic Design because it acknowledges our commitment to our corporate culture,” said Mark Finger, NI vice president of human resources. “We believe that our ‘people advantage’ – hiring the best and brightest, creating a great work environment and offering superior employee development – is the key to long-term success and creates a competitive advantage for our company.”

In addition to the Electronic Design list, National Instruments has been named to FORTUNE’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for eight consecutive years as well as one of BusinessWeek’s “Best Places to Launch a Career” in 2006. NI has also been named one of the best places to work in Hungary, the United Kingdom and Italy, and Capitol twice named National Instruments as one of the top 50 employers in Germany.
