What is NIWeek?

NIWeek, hosted annually by National Instruments, the worldwide graphical system design conference and exhibition. NIWeek 2008 will take place August 5 - 7 in Austin, Texas, and features interactive technical sessions, exhibitions and workshops on the latest technologies for design, measurement, automation, manufacturing and test.

Where is Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) in relation to NIWeek?

The airport is located 7 miles from the Austin Convention Center (ACC), NIWeek’s venue, located at 500 E. Cesar Chavez St., in downtown Austin, TX, 78701.

How do I check-in once I arrive at the conference?

Starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, August 4, you can pick up your badge at the editor registration desk inside the press room at the ACC located at the corner of 4th and Trinity St. This pass guarantees access to the Press Room and all other areas of the conference. The press room is located in rooms 9A, 9B and 9C.

I would like to do some work while at the conference. Will I have access to computers, phones or a FAX machine?

The Press Room will have desktop computers, a printer, a FAX machine and port lines for modem hook-up, along with wireless capabilities. To use the FAX machine and modem connections, you must have a toll free or local dial-in number, or a major credit card. Editors can make long distance phone calls in the Press Room or at any convention center pay phone using a credit card.

Will I be able to check my personal e-mail at NIWeek?

To access e-mail, your program must have Web-access capabilities or you can use a modem in the Press Room. Modem connections require a toll free or local dial-in number, or a major credit card.

When is the Press Room open?

Monday, August 4: 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Tuesday, August 5: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, August 6: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

What kind of food will be served at the conference?

NI provides a continental breakfast in the Press Room each morning, lunch in the exhibition area, snacks in the afternoon, continuous beverage service and reception food at most evening events. Reception food consists of heavy hors d’oeuvres, chips and dips, and finger foods so you can easily eat while walking and visiting in the Exhibition Hall.

What will the weather be like during NIWeek? What should I wear?

Austin can be extremely hot in August with an average temperature of 95ºF (35ºC). To survive the heat, please plan to wear loose-fitting business casual clothing and drink plenty of water. The Austin Convention Center is air-conditioned, and is often around 68ºF (20ºC), so you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket. This summer has been unseasonably rainy, so be sure to bring an umbrella.
