How Do I Configure My Texas Instruments C6711 DSP Starter Kit for Use with the LabVIEW DSP Module?

Problem: I want to program a Texas Instruments C6711 DSP Starter Kit with the LabVIEW DSP Module, but I get the following error when I try to download the DSP VI:
ERROR: DSP Target error! Make sure target is communicating properly, and no other software is attempting to use the DSP hardware.How can I fix this?
Solution: You must complete the following steps before you can program a Texas Instruments C6711 DSP Starter Kit with the LabVIEW DSP Module. You might want to print these instructions for reference, because the process requires you to restart your computer several times. These instructions are also in the
Setting Up the Texas Instruments 6711 DSK Target document (linked below).
- Download
6711_Setup.zip (attached below) and extract the files to a temporary location on your computer.
- Log on to the host computer as an administrator or as a user with administrator privileges.
- Configure the parallel port settings in the BIOS of the host computer to set the printer port mode to EPP.
- Restart the host computer.
- (Windows 2000 Only) Reconfigure the Windows OS Device Manager to match the new settings in the BIOS.
- Connect the 6711 DSK parallel port connector to the parallel port on the host computer using a DB25 printer cable.
- Plug in the 6711 DSK power supply to a power source. Connect the 2.5 mm power supply cable connector to the J4 power connector on the 6711 DSK board. The power-on-self-test (POST) runs automatically when you turn on the power.
- Navigate to where you extracted the files from
6711_Setup.zip and double-click Setup.exe to launch the 6711 DSK
target installation program. Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Restart the host computer to update the Windows registry settings.
- Double-click
Dskntreg.BAT from the directory where you extracted the 6711_Setup.zip files to launch the 6711 DSK configuration batch program. Follow the instructions in the DOS shell. The 6711 DSK configuration batch program modifies the Windows registry when you successfully configure the 6711 DSK target hardware.
- Restart the host computer to update the Windows registry settings.
You can now use the 6711 DSK as an execution target with the DSP Module.
