Where Does My LabVIEW Application Look for the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine (lvrt.dll)?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Run-Time Engine
Primary Software Version: 6.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: I am using an application built with the LabVIEW Application Builder 6.0 or later on Windows. Where does my application look for the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine, lvrt.dll?

Solution: LabVIEW applications search for the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine in the following locations:
  • The location specified in the application's .ini file, in a section named LVRT under a key named DLLPath.
  • The same directory as the application.
  • The location specified by a registry key. This registry key is HKEY Local Machine \Software\National Instruments\LabVIEW Run-Time\X.X, where X.X is the major LabVIEW version.
  • The default location, which is ..\Program Files\National Instruments\Common Files\LabVIEW Run-Time\X.X, where X.X is the major LabVIEW version.
