How Do I Access National Instruments GPIB Boards from HP VEE?

Hardware: GPIB>>Plug-in Controllers>>AT-GPIB/TNT

Problem:
How do I use National Instruments GPIB boards with HP VEE 4.0 for Windows 9x/NT?

Solution:
Refer to Appendix A "Select Codes and I/O Addressing" of the Controlling Instruments with HP VEE manual available from HP/Agilent. This appendix illustrates how to setup the HP I/O Libraries with the I/O Config utility for use with National Instruments controllers. For detailed information, refer to "Installing the HP I/O Libraries - HP VEE".

The HP I/O Select Codes that correspond to NI GPIB interface names are:
  • GPIB0 = 14
  • GPIB1 = 15
  • GPIB2 = 17
  • GPIB3 = 18
Select codes are HP's nomenclature. They are somewhat similar to the GPIB0, GPIB1, GPIB2, etc. naming convention. The select codes indicate which board the HPIB call is referencing. HP's controllers have switch settings on their hardware that set this option; however, they have select codes of 14-18 referring to GPIB0, GPIB1, GPIB2, and GPIB3, respectively.

For example, if you are configuring a National Instruments GPIB controller with the NI-488.2 driver and you use the default interface name of GPIB0, then you should use select code 14 in HP VEE.
