Can I Disable the Filter on the [c]FP-AI-110, [c]FP-AI-111, or [c]FP-SG-140?

Hardware: FieldPoint>>Analog I/O Modules>>FP-AI-110

Problem:
The [c]FP-AI-110, [c]FP-AI-111, and [c]FP-SG-140 have software-selectable input notch filter settings. The update rate for all channels depends on the filter frequency selected. Is it possible to disable the filter or to obtain a faster update rate than those listed in the manuals?

Solution:
No, there is no way to disable the filter. The fastest update rate is obtained by setting the filter to the highest frequency setting. For the AI-11x, this is 500 Hz; for the SG-140 this is 240Hz. By default, the filters for all three modules are set to 60 Hz, which is the medium setting. Please see the table below for the exact specifications.

Filter Settings for the [c]FP-AI-110, [c]FP-AI-111, and [c]FP-SG-140
Module Frequency
(Hz)
Update Rate (s) Frequency
(Hz)
Update Rate(s) Frequency (Hz) Update Rate (s)
[c]FP-AI-110 500 0.173 60 1.230 50 1.470
[c]FP-AI-111 500 0.290 60 1.050 50 1.230
[c]FP-SG-140 240 0.900 60 0.950 15 1.150

The filter in the FieldPoint analog input module functions by measuring the voltage drop of a signal across a highly accurate input resistor. The information is used to reject noise from the incoming signal.

Noise can be introduced externally to a signal which can affect the incoming voltage. This is why filters may be desirable - to eliminate any noise in the incoming voltage signal and provide a cleaner measurement.
