How Many Analog Outputs Can I Access with the BNC-2110?

Hardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO)

Problem: The documentation for the BNC-2110 is confusing. I was looking at one version of the "BNC-2110 Desktop and DIN Rail-Mountable BNC Adapter Installation Guide" and it says that I have access to 8 analog output channels, but another version of the same document says that I only have access to 2 analog output channels. Which version is correct? How many analog output channels can I access with the BNC-2110?

Solution: The BNC-2110 gives you access to up to 8 analog output channels, but it depends on the device connected to it. The labeling of the BNC connectors was somewhat confusing until this was corrected in revision D of the BNC-2110. (See KnowledgeBase 1V0GR5HN, linked below.) The "BNC-2110 Desktop and DIN Rail-Mountable BNC Adapter Installation Guide" was replaced with the "BNC-2110 Installation Guide" and contains the correct information. E Series with BNC-2110

If you connect an E Series data acquisition board to the BNC-2110, then you can configure the BNC-2110 to give you access to 8 analog input channels and 2 analog output channels (most E Series boards only have 2 analog outputs). When using an E Series data acquisition board with the BNC-2110, then you would have the following connections (from top to bottom, see Figure 2 in the Installation Guide):

671x or 673x with BNC-2110

If you connect one of the 671x or 673x analog output boards to the BNC-2110, then you can configure the BNC-2110 to give you access to 8 analog output channels. On the BNC-2110, these connectors are labeled AO<0..7>. When using connectors AO<2..7> for analog output, make sure the switch is in the FS position. When using an analog output board with the BNC-2110, then you would have the following connections (from top to bottom, see Figure 2 in the Installation Guide):

DAC5 OUT DAC4 OUT

DAC3 OUT DAC2 OUT

Revision C (or Earlier) of the BNC-2110
