Problem: I want to use Remote SCXI with OPC. Does NI-DAQ OPC Server support Remote SCXI? Solution: Yes. Remote SCXI does work with NI-DAQ OPC. However, this is NOT the recommended solution for high channel count distributed applications. If you want to use remote SCXI through OPC, be aware that the throughput is going to be severely limited due to the serial protocol. You should try to minimize the number of tags in your system when possible (by configuring a digital port instead of individual digital lines, e.g.) to see better performance. Another limitation is programming with NI-DAQ OPC does not support DAQmx Global Channels or Tasks; in other words, all SCXI tags will need to be created using Traditional DAQ Virtual Channels (see link to KB 3297LI2P below). FieldPoint is the preferred solution for these kinds of applications (see link below).
