New Features: Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite

The Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite includes the following new features:

Support for LabVIEW 2011

Support for LabVIEW 2011 does not remove previously installed support for LabVIEW 2010 and earlier.

Application Example: Machine Vibration Logger

Use the new features to perform continuous acquisition, processing, and logging. This example features new views for dashboard status, trended values, and block processing. Use this example to configure:

Updates to the Application Example: Impact Test

Use the new features to perform TDMS logging for time-domain impacts. This example features a delete button to manage stored impacts, context help for controls and indicators, and a resizeable view area.

Updates to the DAQmx AI Config XControl

Use the new features on the DAQmx AI Config XControl to configure DAQmx logging, save tasks in Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX), and configure software triggers. The control adds the trigger configuration as waveform attributes to the reference channel. This control also features a resizeable channel table.

System Requirements

To run the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite, your computer must meet the following minimum system requirements:

Installation Instructions

You must be logged in with administrator privileges to install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite. Note the following consideration when installing these products:

Installing from the LabVIEW 2011 Platform DVD

You can install all of your LabVIEW products—including the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite—using the LabVIEW 2011 Platform DVDs. You can find installation and activation instructions in the LabVIEW Release Notes, which are available in your LabVIEW software kit.

To request additional LabVIEW 2011 Platform DVDs, refer to the National Instruments Web site.

Note: If you purchased this product with an NI Software Suite or NI Product Bundle, use the installation media that shipped with your purchase to install this product.

Installing from the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite DVD

Complete the following steps to install the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite:

  1. Disable any automatic virus detection programs before installation. Some virus detection programs interfere with the installation program.
  2. Insert the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite DVD and follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
  3. After installation, enable any virus detection programs you disabled and run a virus scan.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Activate the Sound and Vibration Toolkit or the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite using the NI License Manager.

Redistributing Executable Sound and Vibration Applications

If you want to redistribute executables built with the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite or any of its components, you must purchase the appropriate NI Sound and Vibration Software Run-Time License. The part number for the NI Sound and Vibration Software Run-Time License is 779875-35. Contact National Instruments to purchase the NI Sound and Vibration Software Run-Time License.

Refer to the LabVIEW Help, accessible by selecting Help»LabVIEW Help in LabVIEW, for information about the Sound and Vibration VIs.

Finding Examples

You can find LabVIEW examples for the Sound and Vibration VIs using the NI Example Finder. Select Help»Find Examples to launch the NI Example Finder. On the Browse page, the Sound and Vibration example VIs are located in the Toolkits and Modules»Sound and Vibration folder.

You also can find LabVIEW examples for the Sound and Vibration VIs in the labview\examples\Sound and Vibration and the labview\examples\Order Analysis directories.
