I would like to use the NI 9792 Programmable WSN Gateway to simultaneously communicate with WSN and EtherCAT devices, however, when I attempt to create a project with both WSN and EtherCAT devices, I get an error message saying the scan period is too low for EtherCAT and that I need to set the scan period to be less than 50 ms.
Is it possible to control both WSN nodes and one or more Ethercat chassis simultaneously with the NI WSN 9792 Programmable Gateway?
As of NI-WSN 1.2, WSN and EtherCAT devices can be used simultaneously on the NI 9792. If you are using a driver released prior 1.2 this is not the case.
Prior to 1.2, EtherCAT and WSN functionality require the scan engine on the NI 9792 Programmable WSN Gateway to have different scan periods that are not compatible with each other. EtherCAT requires the scan period to be set to less than 50 ms, while WSN requires the scan period to be approximately 200 ms.
If you require this functionality it is recommended that you upgrade to WSN 1.2 or later.
