NI Instrument Simulator Communication Issues in Serial Mode

Hardware: PXI/CompactPCI>>Controllers

Problem:
I'm connected with a serial cable to my NI Instrument Simulator. Everything is set up correctly (dip switches, powered on, etc.) but I can't read or write to it. I've tried everything but I still can't communicate with my Instrument Simulator.

Solution:
Make sure that you are using a NULL modem serial cable. The NULL modem serial cable has pins 2 and 3 swapped and is required by the NI Instrument Simulator. Also, check that the dip switches are in the proper position, as described in the NI Instrument Simulator User Manual.
