Why Do I Get an Error When Running a PXI "Format Hard Drive Disk" for RT? Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Real-Time ModulePrimary Software Version: 6.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software:
Problem: I have a PXI controller that I just partitioned, and I put in the "Format Hard Drive Disk" that I created on my host PC. When it booted up, and asked if I really wanted to format my hard drive, I said "yes" and I got the following error message: System error KERNEL.44664: LFS Error: Numroot must be an even multiple of INOPBLOCK Format Failure 102 What is causing this? Solution: Despite the title of the disk, it only reconfigures the C drive. It will wipe all the data from the drive and make it boot into the RT Engine, but it does not actually format the hard drive. You must use a DOS or WIN95/98 boot disk with the format.com utility included with the OS to format the C drive to either FAT16 or FAT32 before booting with the "Format Hard Drive Disk".
