How Do I Install the NI-VXI API VIs for LabVIEW?Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI
Problem: I need to use the backwards compatibility VXI VIs for LabVIEW. What steps do I need to take to install the VIs? Solution: The NI-VXI 3.5 installer automatically searches for the latest version of LabVIEW installed and installs the VXI VIs in that location and optionally, into the LabVIEW 7.0 directory. NI-VXI 3.3.1 installs support into the LabVIEW 7.0 directory. If you have multiple versions of LabVIEW installed (such as LabVIEW 7.0, 7.1 and 8.0), the installer will only install into the latest version's directory. See the related links to download NI-VXI. I do not have any NI-VXI API support installed. How do I install this support? Run the NI-VXI installer and choose the "Custom" installation option. Choose to add NI-VXI API support for the appropriate LabVIEW versions (see screenshot below).
I have a previous version of LabVIEW installed with the NI-VXI VIs and the installer won't install VXI VI's support for LabVIEW 8. How do I install this support? Since the NI-VXI API VIs are already installed for the previous version of LabVIEW, the installer won't install the support again for the newer version of LabVIEW. To install this support for the latest version, uninstall NI-VXI API support using the NI-VXI 3.5 installer. How do I install this support? Installing NI-VXI API support installs additional files into a LabVIEW version's subdirectory. An example of the files installed for LabVIEW 7.0 by NI-VXI 3.5 is attached below as "NI-VXI_API_Support_Files.zip". Copy the files from the LabVIEW directory where you have support to the directory where you want NI-VXI API support.
