Static Assignment of DataSocket Client PortsPrimary Software: Other NI Software>>DataSocketPrimary Software Version: 4.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I am trying to use DataSocket to communicate through a firewall. Before doing so, however, I must open a port through my firewall to allow for the communication. Is there a way to make the port number that is used by DataSocket clients static or is there a limited range within which the ports will be assigned? Solution: Unlike the DataSocket server, which always uses port 3015, there is no way to statically assign a port number to be used by your DataSocket clients. This means that DataSocket will randomly assign a port number for each incident. Similarly, the entire range of ports (1024 up to 65536) is utilized by DataSocket, so there is not a limited range in which it is confined.
