Problem: I have a LeCroy Waverunner 6100 Oscilloscope and I'm trying to configure it to be used with NI-VISA through TCP/IP. I have already set the IP address and subnet settings for both my host PC and the oscilloscope. However, when I try to create a new VISA TCP/IP resource in MAX I am unable to detect my instrument through Auto-detect or Manual Entry. Am I missing any steps in my configuration? Solution: Apart from the usual procedure followed to connect to an instrument through TCP/IP (such as making sure the instrument is in the same subnet, and being able to ping the instrument), for LeCroy oscilloscopes you need to install the VICP Passport for NI-VISA. This passport provided by LeCroy intends to give more reliable communications with their scopes when using the LAN interface.
