Why Do I Get a Memory is Full Error When Using "Save As" in Project Explorer

Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>Professional Development System
Primary Software Version: 8.5
Primary Software Fixed Version: 8.5
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When trying to use any of the "Save As" options (copy, rename and duplicate) in LabVIEW 8.5 project explorer an error message is displayed saying Memory is Full Unable to Save.

Solution:
This is caused by a corruption in the project file and not in the actual VIs contained within it. This can be identified by copying the file to another location or computer and the problem reoccurring.

To solve this, create a new project and move the contents from the old project over to the new.

  1. Create a new LabVIEW project.
  2. In the project explorer, select File»Save and name the project something different from the original.
  3. Open both project explorer windows and place them side by side on your screen.
  4. Click and drag each of the files from the corrupted project into the new project.
  5. Once the old project is confirmed as empty, delete.
  6. All the "Save As" functions should now be available on your new project.  Your new project should have the same functionality as your old project.
