The niHSDIO Session Initialiation VIs in NI-HSDIO 1.4 for LabVIEW 7.1 Do Not Populate the Resource Name Field

Problem: I am using LabVIEW 7.1 or older and I have installed NI-HSDIO 1.4 (or newer). Why is the niHSDIO Init Acquisition/Generation Session Resource Name not automatically populating?

Solution: From NI-HSDIO 1.4 and onward, instead of having a String Data type (pink) for the Resource Name input to the niHSDIO Init Acquisition/Generation VIs, it is a Resource Name data type (purple). However, in Labview 7.1 or older these VIs will still behave as strings, meaning you will still have to manually enter in the resource name of the HSDIO device:

Only in LabVIEW 8.0 and newer will these controls/constants automatically populate with detected HSDIO resource names:
