Unable to Run Resman After Changing the PCI-MXI-2 User Window Size Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>MXI Interfaces>>PCI-MXI-2
Problem: I had a working MXI-VXI system and then I went to MAX and changed the User Window size for address mapping from 2 MB to 2 GB. After rebooting the computer, I can't run Resman anymore and received this error in Windows Device Manager: "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12) If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system." What should I do? Solution: The memory range you tried to map is too big for your computer to allocate, and the message you received suggests that there are not enough resources for this device and the device can not be used. When this happens, you will not be able to run Resman or go to the Hardware Configuration to change the User Window back to a smaller size. You need to power off the computer, unplug the PCI-MXI-2 card and locate the 4 dip-switches of location U17. Switch 1 is the Factory Overwrite(FOV) switch that determines whether the PCI-MXI-2 boots off the factory-configured half or the user-configurable half. You will need to turn this switch to the "ON" position to restore the factory settings of the EEPROM. Then you can plug the card back into the computer and now you should be able to run Resman and go to MAX where you can change the PCI User Window to a reasonable size. After this step, you will power off the computer again to change Switch 1 back to the "Off" position. Now your PCI-MXI-2 card is back to the normal operational state.
