What is the Correct Order for Installing LabVIEW SignalExpress, NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0, NI System Identification Toolkit 3.0 and SignalExpress Tektronix Edition?

Primary Software: LabVIEW Signal Express>>Development System
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: LabVIEW Toolkits>>System Identification Toolkit

Problem:
I am attempting to install a combination of LabVIEW SignalExpress, the NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0, the NI System Identification Toolkit 3.0 and SignalExpress Tektronix Edition, but I receive an error saying that some of these products are missing components. Why has this happened and what can I do to fix it?

Solution:
If you install the NI System Identification Toolkit 3.0 or SignalExpress Tektronix Edition after you have installed the NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 or LabVIEW SignalExpress you will receive an error trying to launch both Sound and Vibration Assistant and LabVIEW SignalExpress. This occurs because the older installers for NI System Identification Toolkit 3.0 and SignalExpress Tektronix Edition were missing a component that would have checked to see if a newer version was already installed. Due to this missing component, the older installer overwrites some files that are needed by the Sound and Vibration Assistant and LabVIEW SignalExpress. The files installed by the newer software are backwards compatible, so installing in the correct order will fix the problem and allow all of the software to run correctly.

To correct this problem you should uninstall all the affected NI software and reinstall in the correct order, as follows:
  1. Obtain the upgrade to NI System Identification Toolkit 3.0.1 from National Instruments. This release is free to existing SysID 3.0 customers and you can find instructions for obtaining it linked below. The upgrade contains a newer installer that will prevent this error from occurring.
  2. Install the older software (NI System Identification Toolkit 3.0.1 and/or SignalExpress Tektronix Edition).
  3. Install the newer NI software (NI Sound and Vibration Toolkit 5.0 and/or LabVIEW SignalExpress).
Note: You cannot “repair” the installation because the uninstaller has the same problem that the installer has. The files will just be removed and you will still have the same error. Removing all components (or whichever ones you have) and then reinstalling is the only solution.
