VXI/VME Multi-Mainframe/Multi-Chassis Configuration Information Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI
Problem: I have a VXI/VME multi-chassis system, how do I configure the hardware? Solution: This page contains links to resources that contain information that may be useful if you are developing a test system that integrates a multi chassis VXI/VME system. The General Guidelines and Logical Address Wizard documents provide a good starting reference if you want to have a system up and running with the least amount of effort. If you are using multi chassis systems with a single MXI-2 device per chassis, you should consult either of these documents: The MXI-2 configuration manuals discuss all of the configuration steps associated with a multi-chassis system in detail, and are a valuable resource for developers that wish to gain a complete understanding of the configuration process. It discusses both simple configurations that use a single MXI-2 device per chassis, and more complicated configurations, with systems that have multiple MXI-2 devices in one or more chassis. Most users will find that the information in these documents is too detailed for their application and will be better served by referring to either the General Guidelines or the Logical Address Wizard document. The Logical Address document is also applicable to more complex configurations.
