PCI Boards Not Seen in Configuration Utilities

Hardware: Motion Control>>Controllers

Problem: In Windows 95/98, my PCI board (could be a data acquisition board like PCI-MIO-16E-4, or a PCI motion board like PCI-Step or other PCI hardware) is not recognized by the driver configuration utility (NI-DAQ Configuration Utility, etc). My board is seen by Windows 95 operating system and shows up in the device manager. There are no resource conflicts.

Solution:
There are several things that could be wrong:
  1. Make sure that the PCI bus mastering is enabled in the BIOS of your computer.

  2. If the board is still not seen, please remove the board from the computer and boot the computer without the board. This will update your registry and clean up any remnants of the previous installation. Now reinstall the board and reboot. Windows 95/98 should detect the PCI card and when you launch the NI-DAQ configuration utility, you will get the message that NI-DAQ found a new card.

  3. If the problem persists, it is recommended that you plug this card into another computer to determine whether it is the card or the system which was having the problem. If you isolate the problem to the PCI card and not your system, please call technical support or go to www.ni.com/ask to troubleshoot the problem further with a technical support engineer.
