How do I get NI SoftMotion Development Module 1.1 to work with LabVIEW 8.20?

Problem: I am using LabVIEW 8.20. After I install NI SoftMotion Development Module 1.1, I have trouble opening VIs, finding examples, and downloading support to RT.

Solution:

Follow the steps below to get NI SoftMotion Development Module 1.1 installed for LabVIEW 8.20:

1.       Verify that you have installed or that you install NI LabVIEW 8.20, LabVIEW RT 8.20, and LabVIEW FPGA 8.20 (optional).

2.       Complete the following steps to install NI SoftMotion Development Module 1.1. If it is already installed, uninstall it before completing these steps:

a)       Start the NI SoftMotion Development Module 1.1 installer.

b)       Click Next.

c)       Enter name, organization, and serial number and click Next.

d)       Click Custom and then click Next.

e)       Press CTRL + SHIFT + A to show the hidden features.

f)         Click LabVIEW 8.0 Support.

g)       Use the browse button to navigate to the LabVIEW 8.20 installation directory. The default location is C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 8.20

h)       Click the "X" next to LabVIEW 8.0 Support and select Install this feature and its subfeatures to a local drive.

i)         Click the "X" next to LabVIEW Real-Time Target Support and select Install this feature to a local drive.

j)         Click the "+" next to LabVIEW Real-Time Target Support to expand the hidden features.

k)       Click the "X" next to Trajectory Generator for LabVIEW RT and select Install this feature to a local drive.

l)         Click Next.

m)    Follow the prompts to finish the installation.
