Configure the IP Address Ethernet Instrument

Primary Software: Instrument Drivers/IVI>>IVI Driver Templates
Primary Software Version: 2.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
How do I set up a computer and Ethernet Instrument so the two can communicate?

Solution:
There are two different ways to configure an Ethernet Instrument: automatically and manually.
  • DHCP (Automatic) - When your instrument is connected to a network with a Router or Hub, use this setting to have the IP address dynamically assigned automatically.  This is most likely the default state of your instrument IP settings.

  • Static IP Address (Manually) - When your instrument is either connected to a network with a switch or directly to your computer with a crossover cable, you need to manually set the IP address.  Refer to the attached word document for step-by-step instructions on how to set this up on a Tektronics Oscilloscope.
