M-series Data Acquisition Devices are not Listed Under CWDAQ ActiveX Controls Property PagePrimary Software: Measurement StudioPrimary Software Version: N/A Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I have an M-series board and can't see it listed when I put down a CWDAQ ActiveX control and right click on it to get the Properties page. I am able to see my board in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) and I have followed the correct installation order of Measurement Studio and the NI-DAQ drivers. When I use methods such as CWAI1.Configure and CWAI1.Start I receive errors. I tried entering the number of my device programatically, but I get errors when doing so. What is going on?Solution: M Series DAQ devices are supported in NI-DAQmx, but the CWDAQ ActiveX controls are associated with the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) driver, which does not support M Series devices. Using Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) methods such as CWAI1.Configure returns an error. To use M Series DAQ devices, you must use NI-DAQmx functions. If you must work with the Traditional NI-DAQ (Legacy) commands, you can use an E Series DAQ device.Refer to the KnowledgeBase (linked below) for information about programming NI-DAQ in text-based languages.
