Vision 8.6 Function Panels Not Installing Correctly for LabWindows/CVI 8.5

Primary Software: LabWindows/CVI Add-ons>>IMAQ Vision for LabWindows/CVI
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I have been using Vision 8.6 with LabWindows/CVI for some time now with no problem. However, I just upgraded to LabWindows/CVI 8.5 and I no longer see my Vision function panels.

Solution:
In the transition from LabWindows/CVI 8.1 to 8.5, National Instruments changed the way function panels are added to your hard drive and how the programs look for these function panels.

LabWindows 8.1 will look in C:\ProgramFiles\National Instruments\CVI for the function panels while LabWindows 8.5 will look in C:\ProgramFiles\National Instruments\Shared\CVI. The problem is that when Vision 8.6 installs support for LabWindows, it will only install it to the desired location of the most recent version.

For example, if LabWindows/CVI 8.1 is the latest version installed, Vision 8.6 will only install the function panels to the CVI 8.1 folder, where a newly installed version of LabWindows 8.5 won't be able to see them.

On the other hand, if LabWindows 8.5 is the most recent version installed, Vision will install the function panels to the Shared CVI folder, where older version of LabWindows will not be able to see them.

To solve this problem, you need to uninstall and reinstall Vision 8.6 after you have installed LabWindows 8.5. Then you can just manually point any older versions of LabWindows to the Shared CVI folder where the function panels are now installed.
