"Failed to script build tools" Error When Building Blackfin Applications

Primary Software: LabVIEW Modules>>Embedded Module for Blackfin Processors
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I am attempting to build an application using the LabVIEW Embedded Module for Analog Devices Inc (ADI) Blackfin Processors.  During the linking step, I receive the error below.

Failed to script build tools.

What does this mean, and how can I avoid it?

Solution:

This error occurs when LabVIEW cannot perform the last step of the build - attaching to the processor.  If the processor is not connected to the host PC, the final step will fail and the build will not complete.  At times, the board will be connect to the host but will not be recognized correctly.

To resolve this error, try these options:

  1. Make sure that the processor is connected to the host PC.
  2. Ensure that the device shows up properly in the Windows Device manager.
  3. Disconnect the device from the computer and reconnect it to a different USB port.
  4. If you do not have access to hardware, then simply turn off debugging by choosing Target»Build Options and changing the Debug mode to None
