How do I synchronize multiple 653X devices in DAQmx?

Hardware: Digital I/O (DIO)>>High-Speed>>PCI-6533

Problem:
I have multiple 653X devices in my PC and I need to synchronize them with an shared clock.

Solution:
The help for the 653X devices with DAQmx states:

The NI 6533/6534 requires a clock to run the handshaking logic and to generate sampling intervals for Sample clock timing. The frequency timebase must be 20 MHz. Whether internal or external, the 20 MHz clock serves as the primary frequency source for the NI 6533/6534.

The NI 6533/6534 uses its internal 20 MHz clock source, by default, or you can provide a clock from another 20 MHz source over the RTSI bus. When using its internal 20 MHz clock, the NI 6533/6534 can also drive its internal timebase onto the bus to another device that uses a 20 MHz clock.

To programmatically change the source of the clock, use the master timebase source/rate timing properties/attributes in NI-DAQmx.

  • NI PXI-653X—The NI PXI-6533/6534 uses PXI trigger line 7 as the RTSI clock line.
The attached example shows how this is to be done using the DAQmx export signals vi to share the timebase of one card with another. This can be done in either a PXI system or with a RTSI cable and PCI cards. This is not supported with the PCMCIA version of the 6533, as it does not support DAQmx.
