Why Do I Get a Warning When Installing a Volume License File That Contains New Versions Into NI VLM? Primary Software: Other NI Software>>NI Volume License ManagerPrimary Software Version: 2.0 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I had a volume license file for the products on my volume license agreement. I received a new license file from NI and when I install it into NI VLM, I see the dialog box in the image attached below. What does this mean? Solution: When you get a license file that has a new version of a product that you already had in your volume license file, NI VLM can interactively migrate the permissions for the old version to be for the new version. This means that your clients will be reassigned to have permission for the new version. Note that if your client has permission for the new version, the client can continue to use the old version without doing anything different. For VLM 1.0: If you choose not to migrate permissions, the permissions that you previously assigned to the old version will not be copied to the new version. Instead, the new version will appear in NI VLM without any permissions assigned. Choosing "Yes" for this dialog box is highly recommended to allow your clients access to the newest software and maintain your current permission assignments.
