Why Are My SCXI-1140 Readings Close to or Slightly Above the Published Limits at Certain Gain Settings?Hardware: SCXI>>Modules>>SCXI-1140
Problem: When I set my SCXI-1140 module to a gain of 300, 600, 700, or 800, the readings are consistently close to or slightly above the published max specifications. Does my device need calibration? Solution: National Instruments has discovered that the gain error specs for certain gain settings listed in the September 1994 SCXI-1140 User Manual (part number 320410B-01) are incorrect. The gain settings of 300, 600, 700, and 800 list Max Gain Error, Max Gain Tempco, and Max Nonlinearity specifications. However, the numbers should be labeled as Typical Gain Error, Typical Gain Tempco, and Typical Nonlinearity specifications (based on the specs of the instrumentation amplifier used in the design). We will be releasing a specification correction note that will correctly reflect the typical specs at the 300, 600, 700, and 800 gain settings. The specification values will not be changed, however, the term "Max" will be replaced with the term "Typical." Note: There will be no changes to the specifications for the other gain settings; the specification will still published as the same Max values.
