Error Running Automation Symbols or PID Toolkit Installer from Standard User Account on Vista

Problem:
The ComponentWorks Automation Symbols Toolkit and ComponentWorks PID Toolkit installers fail to run when launched on a Windows Vista machine from a Standard user account with User Account Control (UAC) disabled.  The installers show a Setup Initialization Error dialog box, with the text, Setup has detected that unInstallShield is in use. Please close unInstallShield and restart setup. Error 432. 

How can I correct this error?

Solution:
There are two known workarounds for this problem:
  1. Log on to the system as an Administrator to run the installers
  2. Enable User Account Control (UAC), log on to the system as a Standard user, run the installers, and elevate to Administrator level
