Troubleshooting an ER 16 Behaving Incorrectly

Hardware: Switches>>General-Purpose>>ER-16

Problem: The relays on the ER 16 are not behaving as expected when being controlled by PCI-DIO 32HS (6533).

In the MAX Test Panel, when writing to the ports, the corresponding LEDs on the ER 16 do not behave as expected.

Solution: Ensure that the correct 68 to 50 pin adapter is being used to connect the PCI-DIO 32HS to the ER 16. For DIO cards, the 68F-50M for DIO is required (part number:183139B-02). Using the 68F-50M for MIO (part number: 183139B-01) will not work at all, as the pin routings are totally different. These two adapters look identical except for the inscribed part number.

Ensure that the ribbon cable is attached to the DIO 32 Front Connector (top) and not the DIO 24 Front Connector (bottom).

Ensure that the external power supply (which is mandatory with the PCI-DIO 32HS since it does not have an internal 5 V supply), is supplying at least 5 Volts and 1 Amp. Anything less than this will cause the relays to behave unpredictably and become unresponsive to port commands.
