-10440 Error with NI ELVIS

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI ELVIS Driver VIs
Primary Software Version: 1.0
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem: When trying to configure and initialize the NI ELVIS software, I receive the following error:

I have checked and ensured all of the cabling is secure and the NI ELVIS workstation is powered on. What else could be causing this problem?

Solution: Since the digital lines of the E Series device are used to communicate with and control NI ELVIS, you will need to ensure that the digital lines are not configured to be used elsewhere. If you have an SCXI chassis configured in Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) as being connected to the E Series device you are using NI ELVIS with, you could receive the -10440 error.

To eliminate this error you will need to:

  1. Delete the SCXI Chassis within the devices and interfaces folder in MAX
  2. Reset the E Series device

NOTE: You can reset the E Series device within MAX for NI-DAQ 7.0 and later. To do this, right-click on Traditional NI-DAQ devices and select 'Reset driver for Traditional NI-DAQ.' If using NI-DAQ 6.9.3, run the Reset Device VI for the E Series device. This VI can be found in the Data Acquisition>>Calibration and Configuration subpalette in LabVIEW's function palette.
