Receiving "Change Compatibility Mode" Error with LabWindows/CVI After Upgrading to Windows Vista

Primary Software: LabWindows/CVI Development Systems>>Full Development System
Primary Software Version: 8.1.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
I installed LabWindows/CVI on Windows XP and then upgraded to Windows Vista. However, I receive an error at startup stating:

This utility could not remove the ChangeCompatibilityModeTo value from the registry.

I didn't run LabWindows/CVI on Windows XP before upgrading to Windows Vista. What's going on?

Solution:
If you install LabWindows/CVI on Windows XP and then upgrade to Windows Vista, the install directories are not unlocked on Windows Vista.

LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 supports Windows Vista, but it must be properly installed on Windows Vista. Installing LabWindows/CVI 8.1.1 on Windows XP, and then upgrading the OS from Windows XP to Windows Vista is not a valid installation scenario. In this situation, LabWindows/CVI will not work properly if User Access Control (UAC) is enabled.
