What is the difference between the USB-9211 / USB-9215 and the USB-9211A / USB-9215A?  Which driver(s) are compatible with which devices?

Solution

Note: NI-DAQmx Base is compatible with macOS 10.14 and earlier versions – check macOS compatibility  for all supported versions for this driver. For more information, please read the End-of-Life Announcement for DAQmx Base Driver .


Explanation of hardware names:
The USB-9211 and USB-9215 consist of a either a C Series NI 9211 or NI 9215 module with a USB-9161 hardware carrier.

The USB-9211A and USB-9215A consist of a either a C Series NI 9211 or NI 9215 module with a USB-9162 hardware carrier.

The USB-9162 supports USB 2.0 Hi-Speed carrier, while the USB-9161 uses USB 2.0 Full Speed carrier.

The hardware carrier in use determines which driver(s) will support the USB-9211 / USB-9215 or USB-9211A / USB-9215A device.
