How Many GPIB USB Controllers Can I Use At Once?

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-488.2
Primary Software Version: 2.4
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A
Hardware: GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-USB-HS, GPIB>>External Controllers/Convertors>>GPIB-USB-B

Problem:
I need to use multiple GPIB busses. How many GPIB-USB-B or GPIB-USB-HS controllers can I use in a PC at the same time?

Solution:
The NI-488.2 driver can support up to 100 GPIB controllers of various types at the same time.

The main limiting factor with the GPIB-USB-B and GPIB-USB-HS is the amount of power available from the USB controller on the computer, especially with laptop computers. The GPIB-USB-B specifies a maximum power consumption of 200 mA, and the GPIB-USB-HS specifies a maximum power consumption of 500 mA. If the USB controller in the computer is unable to supply the current needed, then a self-powered USB hub can be used to provide the additional power needed for the USB devices.
