Problem: I designed a custom VBAI step using the SDK. I'm trying to set up my inspection overlay by clicking the Setup Overlay button in the State Configuration Window (where the steps in a state are displayed), but the options for my custom step are grayed out. Why? Solution: The VBAI SDKs 2.6 and 3.0 do not support editing the overlays of custom steps using the Setup Overlay window. All the options for the the custom step in the Setup Overlay window are automatically grayed out. However, you can still customize the overlay on a custom step that you are creating by adding the overlay code into your User Programming VI. If you want to give the user the flexibility to change the overlay information when using the custom step, then you will need to add the controls as part of the parameters for your step.
