NI-VISA Support in Linux

Primary Software: Driver Software>>NI-VISA
Primary Software Version: 4.2
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
What does NI-VISA on Linux support?

Solution:
NI-VISA provides very similar support on Linux as it does on Windows.  The visaconf utility is used instead of MAX to configure NI-VISA and its options.  The NIvisaic and driverwizard utilities are the same as they are on Windows.  NI-VISA is designed so that just about any LabVIEW application that runs on Window will also run on Linux.  NI-VISA supports everything on Linux that it supported on Windows, except for IEEE 1394 (Firewire).

NI-VISA on Linux Supports the following Passports:

  • VXI
  • GPIB-VXI
  • GPIB
  • Serial
  • PXI
  • TCP/IP
  • USB
  • Remote
  • Serial ENET

Additionally, NI-VISA on Linux includes a number of graphical user interfaces that can be used to configure and troubleshoot NI-VISA on Linux:

  • Test Panels - NIvisaic
  • Configuration Utility - visaconf
  • Driver Development Wizard - driverwizard
