Setting Report Format to XML Results in Invalid Setting Error

Primary Software: TestStand
Primary Software Version: 4.1
Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A
Secondary Software: N/A

Problem:
When I tried to set my TestStand report format to XML, I get an invalid setting error shown below.

XML reporting will not work with your version of Internet Explorer. Please upgrade to version 6.0 or greater.

I have verified that I have Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater, what should I do to solve this error?

Solution:
When TestStand sets the generated report format to XML, it requires the version of Internet Explorer. This information is stored in two registry keys. In some cases, these keys are missing. To solve the issue, you need to add these two keys to the registry by following the instructions below:
  1. Go to Start»Run
  2. Type in regedit and hit Enter
  3. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Version Vector
  4. Add two string keys named IE and VML
  5. Modify the value of IE to be the version of your Internet Explorer, such as 7.0000. You may find the exact version of your Internet Explorer by go to Help»About in IE.
  6. Modify the value of VML to 1.0
The resulting registry entry should look similar to the one shown in the screenshot below.
