Using the Analog Waveform Editor and HWS Files with Multifunction DAQ DevicesHardware: Multifunction DAQ (MIO), Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Arbitrary Waveform and Function Generators, Signal Sources (AWG/FG/AO)>>Analog Output Devices
Problem: I would like to generate an analog waveform from a HWS waveform file made using the NI Analog Waveform Editor. How can I use the HWS file to generate my analog waveform using NI-DAQmx? Solution: The NI Analog Waveform editor is an application used for generating analog waveforms for NI Signal Generators (54xx devices), Multifunction DAQ, and Analog Output devices, and therefore HWS files can be used with NI-DAQmx. When creating a new waveform, ensure that the proper device type and sampling rate is selected in the Properties window from the File menu in the NI Analog Waveform Editor.
Instrument I/O » Instrument Drivers » NI Hierarchical Waveform StorageTo use the timing that is set by the HWS waveform, make sure to read the HWS in Analog WDT (waveform data type) format and set the DAQmx Timing VI to use the waveform to determine the update rate.
