Changing the Logical Name of a Switch in an NI Switch Executive Configuration Primary Software: Switch ExecutivePrimary Software Version: 1.0.2 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: I would like to change the logical name of a switch in my NI Switch Executive configuration but have been unable to figure out how to do so. If I add a switch to a NI Switch Executive configuration and subsequently change the logical name of the switch in the IVI configuration, this will invalidate the configuration and NI Switch Executive correctly reports the error. If I delete the switch from the configuration and add it again with the new logical name, then all of my configuration information for this device is lost. How can I change the logical name of a switch in my NI Switch Executive configuration, while preserving other configuration settings, such as channel aliases, hardwires, routes, and route groups? Solution: The logical name of a switch in an NI Switch Executive Virtual Device can be changed by manually editing the XML configuration file.
