Problem: I am trying to create a VISA alias for my USB-8451, and if I use an alias that I previously used for a different 8451, I get an error telling me that the alias conflicts with another device. How do I fix this? Solution: When you create a VISA alias for the 8451, VISA remembers the alias even after you unplug the device. The alias is linked to the specific device by the product and vendor ID's as well as other identifying information. This removes the need to recreate the alias if you have to use the same device again. To get rid of the error, you will need to delete the old 8451 alias entry from Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX). To do this, follow the steps below:
