Installing NI-IMAQ for USB on LabVIEW 8.6

Problem:
How can I install NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras for LabVIEW 8.6?

Solution:
NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras does not install support for LabVIEW 8.6, but if you have a version of LabVIEW between 7.0 and 8.5.1, you can copy the files from the older LabVIEW version folder into the LabVIEW 8.6 folder. This will allow the NI-IMAQ for USB VIs to appear in the functions palette.  Follow the steps below to copy the correct files:

  1. Copy the imaqUSB folder located in the labview X.X\vi.lib directory, where X.X is the version of LabVIEW prior to 8.6.
  2. Paste the imaqUSB folder in the labview 8.6\vi.lib folder.
  3. Copy the vision7.mnu file located in the labview X.X\menus\Categories\VisionMotion directory, where X.X is the version of LabVIEW prior to 8.6.
  4. Paste the vision7.mnu file in the labview 8.6\menus\Categories\VisionMotion directory.
  5. Restart LabVIEW 8.6.
You should now see the NI-IMAQ for USB VIs in the Vision and Motion palette.

Note: You must have the Vision Development Module installed to use NI-IMAQ for USB Cameras.
