Why Are My Newer cRIO Modules Not Detected By LabVIEW FPGA 1.1?

Problem: I am using LabVIEW FPGA 1.1, and I have added one of the newer cRIO modules (NI 9203, 9205, etc. See list below) to my bank. When I go into the 'Embedded Project Manager' to Configure Target for CompactRIO and click 'Discover Modules', all of my older modules are found, but the slot that holds the new module says "Unknown." I try to add the module manually in an empty slot as well, but the list in the Module Type drop-down menu does not even list my new module. I have the NI-RIO 2.0 driver, which lists my newer module as a supported device. Why isn't my new module detected?

Solution: Although the support for these newer modules were added to the NI-RIO 2.0 driver, there is also a minimum requirement for the LabVIEW FPGA version for modules as well. For the newer modules with added support in NI-RIO, most require LabVIEW FPGA version 8.0 as well. These modules will not be detected in FPGA 1.1, even if you have NI-RIO version 2.0. The modules that currently require both NI-RIO 2.0 and LabVIEW FPGA version 8.0 are listed below:

  • NI 9203

  • NI 9205

  • NI 9206

  • NI 9237

  • NI 9239

  • NI 9422

  • NI 9477
