Additional Latency Across MXI-3 and MXI-4 Connections

Hardware: VXI/VME/MXI>>MXI Interfaces

Problem:
What is the additional latency introduced as a result of a MXI connection?

Solution:
Intrinsic latency for the MXI interface boards (independent of a system) is as follows:

MXI-3: Approximately 1.8 µs
MXI-4: Approximately 2.0 µs

However, when you add these cards into a system, you introduce more latency into the transfer. National Instruments has tested two different types of computers with MXI-3/MXI-4 and found the total latency to be around 3.05 µs for one system and around 3.8 µs for the other.
