How do I Alter the Windows System Clock Update Time Interval?Primary Software: LabVIEW Development Systems>>LabVIEW Professional Development SystemPrimary Software Version: 8.6.1 Primary Software Fixed Version: N/A Secondary Software: N/A
Problem: Windows automatically connects to a time server to update its system clock after a set time interval. By default this is every hour under Windows XP and every 7 days under Windows Vista. I want to alter this update interval to be more / less frequent. Solution: This update interval value is stored in the Windows Registry. By changing the value in the registry you can alter the interval to any value you wish. The key is called SpecialPollInterval and can be located at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\current control set\services\w32time\timeproviders\NTP clientThe value is in seconds, update the key and reboot the computer to confirm the new setting. If Windows is unable to connect to a time server it will retry once a minute until a connection has been established and the clock updated. It will then update at the requested interval.
