Error Regarding Lkcitdl.exe and/or Lktsrv.exe When Booting up Windows XP

Problem: After installing Logos, which is installed with Lookout, the LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control module, and FieldPoint, Windows XP reports errors at startup. These errors report problems with either lkcitdl.exe or lktsrv.exe.

Solution: This problem occurs only when Windows XP attempts to start the services on bootup. However, no errors occur if the services start after bootup. Because of this, the problem disappears if you set the services to start manually. This causes the services to start only when needed, which occurs after bootup.

Complete the following steps to set the services to start manually.
  1. Select Start»Run.
  2. Enter cmd and click the OK button.
  3. At the DOS prompt, enter the following:

    lkcitdl -remove
    lktsrv -remove
    lkads -remove
    lkcitdl -install -manual
    lktsrv -install -manual
    lkads -install -manual
    exit
The system removes the services so the services do not automatically start on bootup, and then adds the services so that they start only when needed.
